Assessment Samples

Out of the many assessments that I have had the chance to create and used over the past two years (in regards to pre-internship and internship), I have decided to highlight the following ones:
Cloud Mobile Assessment

Above is the first rubric that I created from scratch and used during my Predicting Weather unit in a Grade 4 classroom. I really enjoyed building Cloud Mobiles with the students and when it came time for assessment, I felt proud that the majority of the students filled or attempted to fill all of the above rubric categories. I saw first hand how having a clear rubric that is explained prior to the project starting not only helps the students but also the teacher when assessment time comes.

Farm Unit Final Assessment

For the final assessment of my farm unit during internship, I knew that I wanted the students to have input in regards to which farm project in their farm folders they thought they did the best on and why. Prior to their selections, I went through the folders and selected 1-2 projects I though the student in question did their best on and gave them positive feedback in writing as well as verbally.

In regards to the beginning of this assessment, I decided to have one on one time with students while playtime was occurring to ask them various questions about what they learned and knew about various farm animals and grains we had talked about. Even though I found that this assessment method was slightly lengthy, I enjoyed the time talking to each individual student about his or her successes.
